It's time for a change in the Birds' outfit, and the writing is on the computer screen that at least one member of the team will be moving on. With issue #100 just around the corner, now seems the perfect time for a reality check.
Summary of Stephness: The new vigilante, Misfit, wearing Batgirl garb has used her teleporting powers to get into Bab's HQ, and mistakenly believing that fighting then becoming friends is the proper behavior, proceeds to do so. Babs, concerned for someone so young and clearly not well-adjusted, first gives the girl the bullet which paralyzed her, then tells her, "It's not all happy endings. I want to show you some photos of a beautiful, sweet young girl. Someone a lot like you. Her code name was Spoiler." On the screen, Stephanie Brown's autopsy photos appear, and the girl (Misfit) is shocked.
Over a photo of Steph swinging on a line in Spoiler garb, the girl (Misfit) promises not to be Batgirl.
Behind the Scenes: Babs would reference this scene in Batgirl #2.
